Lovell Rugby moved from its retail shops to selling online in 1998, and for many players it became the go-to place for boots and kit. The business now trades as Lovell Sports and is part of Frasers Group, but rugby is still at the heart of the site: boots from adidas, Mizuno, Canterbury and KooGa, international and club shirts, head guards and training equipment. It has added football, running, golf, cricket, padel and fitness gear along the way.

It suits players kitting out for the season, parents buying boots for growing feet and anyone after a rugby gift. The site's rugby FAQs are worth a read before you choose, as they suggest boots for forwards, backs and players with wide feet.

What's worth a look

Six rugby boots and trainers from the current range, many of them reduced.

For forwards, the adidas Kakari RS is built for scrums and rucks, with a reinforced upper and a soft ground outsole for grip on natural grass. Backs who want something lighter could look at the adidas Adizero RS15 Elite, which has a leather and synthetic upper, a padded collar and metal studs on a soft ground plate.

It isn't only rugby. The wider site has football boots, trainers, running and fitness wear, golf, cricket and padel, brand shops for adidas, Puma, New Balance, Canterbury, Under Armour and Nike, and a Christmas section where gifts are sorted by price, from under £20 to under £100.

How to save more

• Check two or three sizes if you're between sizes or buying for a junior player: the sale price can vary a lot from one size to the next.
• Get the fit right first time. Returns are accepted within 28 days, unworn and in the original box, but they go through the ZigZag portal and cost from £4.99 in the UK.
• If you have a Love2Shop Flexecash card, you can swap it for Lovell Sports eVouchers through Love2Shop's own site, then spend those at checkout.
