The Nat Geo Kids Shop is the online store from Creature & Co., the London publisher of the UK editions of National Geographic Kids and National Geographic Little Kids magazines. It sells officially branded National Geographic toys and kits alongside books, back issues and magazine extras, so it suits parents, grandparents and godparents looking for a present that is fun but also gets children asking questions.

The range is small and easy to browse. You can shop by age (5+, 8+ and 10+) or by interest: books, craft, play, and science and tech. Prices run from a few pounds for a back issue to under £50 for the outdoor gadgets, which makes it a good place for birthday and Christmas presents at different budgets.

For a child who loves being outside, the National Geographic Metal Detector (£47.99) is designed for ages 8 and up. It detects metal up to 12cm down, beeps and lights up when it finds something, and its search coil is waterproof, so puddles and shallow streams are fair game. Pair it with the walkie-talkies (£44.99 for two) and a garden treasure hunt plans itself. For a smaller budget, the Gemstone Dig Kit is £12.99.

The Junior Explorer Club Gift Box (£31.99) is the ready-made present: a 100-page bookazine, quiz, joke and colouring books, a height chart and a poster, plus a voucher for 15% off a future order from the shop.

Orders are packed in recyclable, FSC-certified paper or card, and the shop says it surveys its suppliers and asks for copies of factory audits. Bookworms are well served too, with activity titles such as How to Draw Cute Animals (£5.99) and Animals Would You Rather (£6.99) alongside the reference books.
