NIVOCASE is the new name of DeinDesign, a phone-case business in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, that has been making smartphone protection for almost 20 years. Its cases are sorted by how much protection you want, from slim everyday cases to a heavy-duty one drop-tested from 4.2 metres, and most can be printed with licensed designs (Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Peanuts, Naruto, FC Bayern and more) or your own photo.
Before you get attached to a design, check delivery: the German shop delivers only to Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland, and prices are in euros. Its international site, nivocase.com, delivers to the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, so neither currently ships to the UK. It's most useful if you live in, or are sending a gift to, one of those countries.
The cases are tested in the company's own NIVOCASE Test Lab in Bad Kreuznach: they're dropped onto concrete on their backs, edges and corners, tumbled to simulate two years in a handbag, and rubbed 10,000 times to check the print lasts, while the phone chains go through a pull test. If you want something personal, the design-your-own option prints your photo onto a case, and the motif pages group designs by licence and artist.
