Refresh Cartridges is an independent ink and toner shop from Devon. It began in 1999 as a computer repair business, and printer supplies gradually became the main event. Today it runs a warehouse and three shops, in Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbot, and sends orders all over the UK. It's a good fit if you print at home or run a small office and want cartridges that are cheaper than the printer maker's own, without buying from an unknown seller overseas. Almost everything is held in stock at its own UK warehouse, and the phone lines are open six days a week if you get stuck.

You can search by printer model or cartridge number, and most cartridges come in branded, compatible or remanufactured versions. The shop also sells paper, labels, stationery and computer accessories, and, a little unexpectedly, a good range of Games Workshop kits and Citadel paints.

What's worth a look

Here's a mix of everyday cartridges and a few things from the wider range, at the prices shown when we checked.

The remanufactured TN-2220 toner for Brother laser printers is £11.97, dropping to £9.97 each when you buy three or more, and it's rated for 2,600 pages. If you have a Canon Pixma, the remanufactured PG-540XL is £20.97 and works with 36 models.

The Refresh Play side of the shop is worth a browse if anyone in your house paints miniatures. A Space Marines Intercessor Squad is £37.47 and a Citadel Medium Glaze brush is £7.47, and these come with the same free UK delivery as the ink. The company also makes a point of its green credentials: its warehouse and shops run on renewable electricity, packaging is kept to a minimum, and local same-day deliveries go out in an electric van.

Current offers

Refresh Cartridges doesn't run flashy sales. Its savings are built into how it sells:

• Free UK delivery on every order by Royal Mail 24, with most orders placed by 5pm on a weekday dispatched the same day.
• Multi-buy prices on many cartridges, so the price per cartridge falls when you buy two, three or more.
• A 30-day no-quibble money-back guarantee on everything it sells.

How to save more

• Use the Cartridge Price Promise: if you find the same product cheaper elsewhere before you buy, or within seven days after, the shop will match it down to its own cost price.
• Compare remanufactured and compatible cartridges with the originals on the product page, which shows the page yield and cost per page so you can work out real value.
• If you live near Torbay or Newton Abbot, choose free in-store pick-up, and take your empty cartridges in for recycling.
