Weird Fish is a British clothing brand known for comfortable, easy-going clothes for men and women: soft knitwear, fleeces, check shirts, jersey dresses, coats and its well-known graphic T-shirts. The style is casual and outdoorsy rather than high fashion, so it suits anyone who wants clothes for weekend walks, the pub or the school run that will last more than one season.

For colder days, the Kenzie Waterproof Coat has a detachable fleece-lined hood and adjustable cuffs and waistband, and it's currently down from £150 to £120. If you only want one jumper this winter, the Carmelo Fair Isle Jumper is a classic pattern in a smoky blue. On the lighter side, the Mountain Top graphic T-shirt is 100% cotton and was showing at £16.80 instead of £28, which is a good example of the brand's printed tees.

Women's dresses are a strong part of the range too. The Hellen Printed Crepe Shirt Dress in artichoke green is an easy day dress that works with boots and a cardigan as the weather turns, and the site was also offering a half-price Limon cardigan with every dress when we looked. For layering, the Tyburn check fleece shacket sits between a shirt and a jacket, which is useful for those in-between autumn days when a full coat is too much.
