yfood is a Munich brand whose UK shop sells meals in a bottle. Its ready-to-drink meals come in 500ml bottles, usually in packs of six, alongside meal powders you mix yourself, snack bars and a basic shaker. The brand pitches them at busy days at work, on the road or between shifts, and says plainly that they are not meant to replace fresh food or proper meals.

The UK site prices everything in pounds, and orders usually arrive within one to three working days. There are two main lines. The classic drinks are lactose-free and milk-based, in flavours from Classic Choco and Happy Banana to Cold Brew Coffee and Salted Caramel. The vegan drinks are plant-based, in chocolate, vanilla and berry. yfood says each 500ml drink has 500 kcal and 26 vitamins and minerals, with no added sugar.

What's worth a look

If you've never tried yfood, start with a taster pack, then move to six-packs of the flavours you like.

The Taster Pack Classic Drinks is the cheapest way in at £15.95 for five bottles in five different flavours, including Cold Brew Coffee, which contains caffeine. If you're plant-based, the Taster Pack Vegan Drinks does the same job with the vegan range. Once you've found a favourite, a six-pack such as Cold Brew Coffee is £20.94, or £17.80 on subscription. The powder taster pack makes ten meals and suits people who'd rather mix their own at home or at work.

The bars are the snack-sized option. The Taster Pack Bars mixes eight 60g bars across five flavours, including Roasted Hazelnuts and Salted Caramel, if you want something for a bag or desk drawer rather than a full drink.

How to save more

• Do the maths on the subscription. At £17.80 a six-pack it works out at about £2.96 a meal, compared with £3.49 when you buy once, and you can cancel after the first delivery if it isn't for you.
• Combine orders to clear the £35 free delivery threshold. Two full-price six-packs come to £41.88.
• Bundles beat buying three separate six-packs, so if you already know you like Classic Choco, Happy Banana and Fresh Berry, the Bestseller Bundle is the better buy.
