Orvis is a long-established American outfitter selling fly-fishing equipment, country and outdoor clothing for men and women, hunting gear, dog beds and accessories, bags and packs, and home goods. The range runs from rods, reels, waders and fly-tying supplies to everyday clothing, and it also sells gift cards and runs fly-fishing schools and trips.
Its story helps explain the appeal. Charles F. Orvis founded the company in 1856 in Manchester, Vermont, and the Perkins family has owned it privately since 1965. It says it gives 5% of pre-tax profits to conservation, communities and canine health, and backs products with its Great Catch Guarantee, promising to make it right if you are unhappy. It suits anglers, country-sports fans and dog owners who want durable, traditional-style kit.
This is a US store, so UK buyers shop as international customers: prices are in dollars and cards are billed in US dollars. Orvis ships worldwide, though not to some sanctioned countries. Outside the US and Canada, shipping starts at $30 and rises with order value, with delivery in 7 to 10 business days, and duties and taxes are not included, so you pay them on arrival. Fishing collections for UK shoppers are served by a separate orvis.co.uk site.
