Voucher Magpie tracks 23 UK products on offer across 4 stores, including 11 verified price drops, updated daily from each store's product feed. We compare today's price with the prices we've seen the store charge before, show the previous price and the last day it applied, and only add a "Price drop" badge once we have seen the price fall. How do we tell a genuine price drop from a fake one?

A genuine price drop means the product was sold at a higher price recently and is now cheaper. On a verified drop we show "Was £X until [date]": the store charged that price for at least 7 of the 28 days before the drop. Be wary of RRP comparisons on their own, because an RRP is not proof the item ever sold at that price; where all we have is an RRP we label it RRP and never cross it out. Check the previous price, the date, and the same product at other UK retailers before buying.

The rules on "was" prices are set out in the CMA's guidance on unfair commercial practices. Citizens Advice and GOV.UK explain your rights if a price turns out to be wrong.

Prices and stock come from each store's product feed, updated daily, and can change at any time: check the price on the store's site before you buy. When you buy through our links the store may pay us a commission, at no cost to you. How we check prices · How we make money

Price drop questions

How can I tell if a UK price drop is a genuine discount?

Check the previous price and the date it applied, not just the RRP. A real drop means the item sold for more recently. Voucher Magpie shows "Was £X until [date]" on every verified price drop and checks prices daily from store feeds.

Where can I find current price drops on home appliances?

On our kitchen and appliance price drops page, which lists current reductions from UK retailers with the previous price, the saving and when it was last checked.

Are TV price drops worth waiting for?

Often, around Black Friday and when new models launch. Compare the current price with the verified "was" price and the date it applied before you buy. Our tech and electronics price drops includes TVs.
