Diamonds Resorts is a small group of all-inclusive beach resorts around the Indian Ocean, with two private-island resorts in the Maldives, two in Zanzibar and two on the Kenyan coast. It suits couples planning a honeymoon or a big anniversary trip, divers and snorkellers who want reefs on the doorstep, and families looking for a beach holiday with the food and drink sorted. You book rooms directly on its website, which also lists packages for honeymoons, weddings and longer stays.

The Maldives resorts are in South Ari Atoll and are reached by seaplane from Malé, while the Kenyan and Zanzibar resorts are on long stretches of beach with spas, several restaurants and activities included. Rates aren't listed on the pages themselves: you pick your hotel and dates in the booking tool to see prices, so it's worth checking a few date combinations.

In the Maldives, Diamonds Athuruga is about 20 minutes from Malé by scenic flight and offers beachfront villas, junior suites and overwater villas, with guided dives and marine biologists on hand to show you the reef. Its neighbour Diamonds Thudufushi is a private island with beach villas, overwater suites and Jacuzzi water villas.

Over in East Africa, Diamonds Mapenzi Beach in Zanzibar sits among tropical gardens with an all-inclusive menu built around Zanzibari flavours and the Zuri Rituals spa. Diamonds Bijoux is set among coconut palms on Bwejuu Beach, with VIP villas that have private pools. In Kenya, Diamonds Malindi has themed restaurants and the Mvua African Rain spa, and Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort is on Diani Beach, with a golf course alongside.

How to save more

• Book direct for the extras. Direct bookings come with perks such as early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability), and at some resorts a resort credit or a free sunset cruise.
• Stay longer in the Maldives. Seaplane transfers are a big part of the cost of a Maldives trip, so stretching a stay to six nights to get them free can make a real difference.
• Weigh flexible against non-refundable. Advance Purchase rates give the biggest savings but need full payment up front and can't be refunded, so they suit fixed dates; the flexible rates cost a little more but let you change plans.
