Hyder Living: Yorkshire-made beds, headboards and mattresses

Hyder Living is the online shop of H Living Ltd, a bed and bedroom furniture maker on an industrial estate in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The family behind it started making furniture in 1979, and the company itself dates from 2003. As well as selling direct, it makes beds for retailers and hotels, and names Costco, Bensons for Beds and Dreams among the shops that have sold its products.

It suits anyone who wants a made-in-Britain upholstered bed or headboard and likes to choose the fabric, and it's also worth a look if you're replacing a mattress. Standard delivery is free to UK addresses, and lead times are shown on each product page.

What's worth a look

These are some of the bed frames, mattresses and headboards in the range, with prices for the smallest size listed.

The Brooks bed frame starts at £750 for a double and can be made as a standard frame or an ottoman with storage underneath. If you're mainly after a new mattress, the 2000 Pocket Reflex combines pocket springs with a reflex foam layer and starts at £272 for a single.

Most frames come in double, king and superking sizes, with the price rising for each size (the Brooks is £835 as a king and £940 as a superking), and mattresses and headboards start from a 3ft single. Headboards such as the 9 Panel can be upholstered in any fabric or colour from the swatch range, with optional side wings. If you're kitting out a holiday let or a guest house, Hyder Living also has a contract range of hotel mattresses, bases and headboards, and some beds and mattresses can be made to bespoke sizes.

Current offers

We don't have any discount codes for Hyder Living at the moment. Standard delivery is free on every order to UK addresses (the mainland, with extra charges or restrictions for some remote areas), fabric swatches are free to order, and the homepage advertises 0% finance, subject to status.

How to save more

• Order the free fabric samples before you choose an upholstered bed or headboard. It's far cheaper than paying to send back a frame in the wrong shade.
• Be sure of your size before ordering. Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 14 days, but Hyder Living charges £60 to collect, and customised items can't be returned.
• Ask about 2-man assembly and removal of your old mattress when you order, rather than arranging them separately.
• Check the delivery time on the product page before you order, especially if you need the bed by a set date, as some items are made to order and lead times vary from product to product.
