Weenect makes GPS trackers that clip onto a pet's collar or harness and show its location live in an app on your phone. There are two main devices: the tiny Weenect XS for cats and small dogs, and the larger Weenect XT for dogs. Each tracker has its own SIM card, so it works on a subscription, much like a phone contract.

It suits owners of cats that roam, dogs that bolt after rabbits, and anyone who has spent an evening calling a pet's name around the neighbourhood. You can set safe zones and get an alert when your pet leaves them. Weenect also lists a lifetime warranty, free shipping and 30 days to change your mind.

The Weenect XS cat collar weighs 27 grams and is IP68 water resistant to 1.5 metres for an hour. Its battery lasts up to seven days if you set up Wi-Fi power-saving zones at home, or about two days of continuous tracking. The same XS unit is sold for small dogs. Bigger dogs get the Weenect XT, which Weenect says lasts up to three weeks with power-saving zones, or about a week of continuous tracking. It's also IP68 rated and works in more than 170 countries.

Every tracker needs a plan. On the subscriptions page the monthly plan is £13 with no commitment, and longer plans cost less per month: £6.67 on one year, £4.59 on two years and £3.67 on five years. There's an optional Premium status at £2.99 a month for extra features, but Weenect says you don't need it. In the accessories shop you'll find spare silicone cases, collars, charging cables and a Julius-K9 harness with a tracker pocket.

Current offers

• 30% off your first order: sign up to Weenect's cat or dog newsletter and it emails you a code for 30% off your first order. It can't be combined with other promotions and doesn't apply to bundles, accessories or subscriptions.
• Tracker and subscription bundle: the XT with a one-year plan is £120.99, down from £124.99, a saving of £4.
• Free shipping and a 30-day change-of-mind period are listed on the site.

How to save more

• Weigh up the bundle against the 30% code. The code only works on the tracker itself, so on the £44.99 XT you'd save about £13.50, which beats the bundle's £4 saving.
• If you plan to keep the tracker for years, a longer plan works out much cheaper than paying £13 monthly.
• Set up Wi-Fi power-saving zones at home. They stretch battery life a long way, so you'll charge it less often.
