XPPen makes digital drawing gear: pen tablets that plug into your computer, pen displays you draw straight onto, and, more recently, stand-alone tablets for notes and sketching. Its UK store at storexppen.co.uk prices everything in pounds, ships most orders from a UK warehouse within three to five working days, and doesn't charge for delivery.

It suits a wide spread of people. If you're a student trying digital art for the first time, a teacher who wants to write on screen during online lessons, or an illustrator after a bigger canvas, there's something at a sensible price. Most products come with a two-year warranty, and the store offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

What's worth a look

If you're starting out, the Deco 640 is the cheapest way in. It's a small pen tablet with a 16 x 9 cm drawing area and a stylus with 16,384 pressure levels, and it works with Windows, macOS, Android, ChromeOS and Linux. The Deco 01 V3 gives you a much bigger 10 x 6.25 inch area for not much more.

For drawing straight onto the screen, the Artist 12 Pro Lite has an 11.6-inch laminated display and is pitched at beginners, though it also works well for online teaching and presentations. At the top end, the Magic Pro 13 has a 3K, 120Hz paper-like screen and can double as a drawing display for your PC over a single USB-C cable.

The Magic Note Pad is a different beast: a slim Android tablet with a paper-style colour screen, a pencil with 16,384 pressure levels and XPPen's Notes app, which turns handwriting into text and records audio alongside your notes. It weighs 495g, and XPPen says the battery lasts up to a week of normal use.

Current offers

• Register for an XPPen account and get 5% off. The store says this can be used alongside other promotions.

On top of that, most of the range shows a crossed-out price right now, including the Deco Pro (Gen2) at £169.99 (was £199.99) and the Artist 12 Pro Lite at £154.99 (was £179.99).

How to save more

• Sign up for an account before you check out. The 5% registration discount stacks with the sale prices, so it's a few extra pounds off whatever you choose.
• Look at accessories on the product page. When we checked, the Magic Note Pad page showed the Smart Keyboard at 30% off and a spare stylus at 20% off, which is cheaper than buying them later.
• Check stock before you get set on a model. Some products, such as the Artist 22 Plus, show as out of stock in the UK warehouse, so compare a similar size if your first pick isn't available.
