How we verify codesHow giving worksHow we make money
Flightright is a flight compensation claims service run by Flightright GmbH of Berlin. You enter your flight details, it checks whether you are owed compensation, and if so it takes the claim on, chasing the airline and going to court through its contract lawyers when needed. It handles delays of three hours or more, cancellations, missed connections, denied boarding and strikes, and ticket refunds for cancelled flights. Under UK261 the compensation is £220, £350 or £520 per passenger depending on flight distance, and Flightright says UK claims can go back six years.
The service is no win, no fee, but it is not cheap. Its prices page says the success fee is usually 20-30% of the compensation plus VAT, with an extra 14% where lawyers have to be brought in, again only if the claim succeeds. In its own worked example, a 27% fee plus VAT took €771.12 of a €2,400 payout. If the airline pays you directly after Flightright has contacted it, you still owe the fee.
You do not need a claims company to get this money. Under UK261 you can claim from the airline yourself for free, usually with its online claim form, and if it refuses you can take the complaint to the airline's dispute resolution scheme or the Civil Aviation Authority, also without charge. Flightright is worth considering mainly if you don't want to handle the paperwork or the airline has already turned you down.
