National Express is a long-distance coach operator that runs scheduled services across Great Britain. It started in 1972 and is now part of the Mobico Group, which is based in Birmingham. Many routes are run on its behalf by local coach companies.
It sells coach tickets between hundreds of towns, cities, universities and airports. Fares come in different types: Fully Flexible tickets can be refunded if cancelled at least 24 hours before travel, Standard tickets can be changed for a £5 fee, and Restricted tickets cannot be changed or refunded. Change & Go is an add-on that lets you take a coach up to 12 hours either side of your booked time.
You can book on the website or app, by phone, at a coach station, through Payzone outlets, or with cash from the driver. The luggage allowance is two medium suitcases or one large case, plus hand luggage. Coachcards for young people, over-60s and disabled travellers take a third off Standard and Fully Flexible fares.
