It was founded in London in 2000 and today belongs to the Storio group, which runs six brands across 13 countries.

The appeal is the breadth of products and the easy-to-use creation tools, with a new Photobox Editor for building books, calendars and cards. Prices start low: the site shows photo prints from 17p each, wall art from 4.99 pounds, mugs from 11.99 pounds and photo books from 12.99 pounds. It suits families wanting an album of a holiday, anyone after a personalised present, and people who print photos regularly. The company says it will find a solution case by case if an order arrives faulty or not as expected.

For UK buyers delivery is charged per product rather than on a free threshold, and exact costs appear at checkout. Standard postage for photo prints, cards and mugs is shown from 3.99 pounds, photo books from 4.99 pounds and wall art from 5.99 pounds, with Fast Tracked and Express upgrades available.
