The AA (Automobile Association) is Britain's best-known motoring organisation. It was founded in June 1905 in London and says it now has over 14 million members. Breakdown cover is its core product, but the website also sells car, van, motorbike, home and travel insurance, car finance and personal loans, savings accounts, MOTs and servicing, used and leased cars, and driving lessons.
Breakdown cover comes as single, joint or family personal cover, or as vehicle cover for one nominated car whoever drives it. Every level includes 24/7 roadside assistance for breakdowns more than a quarter of a mile from home, plus Accident Assist. Extras include At Home, National Recovery, Onward Travel, tyre cover and key cover. The AA does not publish a standard price list because cost depends on your postcode, date of birth, how many people are covered and which options you add.
For UK shoppers there is no delivery to worry about for cover and insurance, which are bought online and managed in your account or the AA app. You can pay annually by card or direct debit, or monthly by direct debit. Both have a 14-day cooling-off period; after that, annual cover has no refund and monthly cover needs 30 days' notice. Members also get Smart Benefits, such as discounts on MOTs, servicing, airport parking and car hire.
