Student discounts explained: UNiDAYS, Student Beans and TOTUM

Most big UK stores offer a student discount, but you usually need to verify through a third-party service first. Here's how it works.

Student discounts are one of the easiest ways to save, and they usually work all year round. Most stores don't check your student status themselves. They use a verification service, which gives you a code to use at checkout.

The main services

ServiceHow it works
UNiDAYSFree. Verify once with your student email or ID, then get codes for each store in the app or on the site.
Student BeansFree. Works the same way, with codes generated per store.
TOTUMHas a free digital option and a paid card. Some stores give TOTUM members a better rate.

Each store chooses which service it works with, and the discount can be different on each. For example, River Island lists different rates for Student Beans and UNiDAYS.

Where to find the best rates

Look for the Students badge on store pages. Some of the stores we list with student offers include JD Sports, Samsung, IKEA, Cult Beauty, Dunelm and National Express.

Who should your commission support?

The store pays us a commission when you buy. We donate half of it to the charity you pick. You still get the discount, and it costs you nothing.
