azuLine Hotels is a small Spanish chain based in Ibiza Town, with more than 20 years of running hotels and holiday apartments in the Balearics. It isn't trying to be a luxury brand. The pitch is simple, comfortable rooms in busy resort areas at sensible prices, with the website's headline rate starting from €44 a night. Prices are shown in euros, and the hotels are aimed at families, couples, groups of friends and even pet owners.

Most of the hotels are in Ibiza: a cluster in and around San Antonio, two on San Antonio Bay, and two in quieter Santa Eulalia. In Mallorca there are two more, in El Arenal near Palma and in Palmanova. Most of them close over the winter, so this is really one for planning next summer. Bookings made on the official site come with no processing fees, free Wi-Fi and a best price guarantee.

What's worth a look

Here are six hotels across both islands, with the "from" price each hotel page currently shows.

The most stylish of the group is azuLine Hotel M, a four-star in San Antonio with a rooftop pool, gym and weekly live shows, about seven minutes' walk from Caló des Moro cove. Families should look at Bergantín on San Antonio Bay, which has an adults' pool, a family pool, a kids' pool with a pirate ship and a mini-club, all 100 metres from the beach. In Mallorca, Bahamas & Bahamas II is all-inclusive, has a sauna and jacuzzi, and runs a free beach bus from May to October.

The offers page also lists a free first child all season when sharing with two adults. The one catch is July and August, when there is a €10 a day supplement if you book all-inclusive. Every direct booking comes with free Wi-Fi and no processing fees.

How to save more

• Pick the flexible rate if your plans might change: it can be cancelled free up to 48 hours before arrival (seven days before for July and August stays). The semi-flexible, non-refundable rate only lets you change dates.
• Compare islands. The cheapest "from" prices right now are Mediterráneo in Santa Eulalia (€67) and Pacific in San Antonio (€68), while Hotel M starts at €92.
• Travelling with a dog or cat? Only Mediterráneo takes pets, at €10 a night for one animal up to 12kg, so it saves paying for kennels at home.
