Carwow is a car-buying site where dealers compete to offer you a price. You can configure a new car and get offers from dealers, browse used and in-stock cars, compare lease deals, or sell your current car through its online auction. It also publishes car reviews and news, and it acts as a credit broker for finance rather than a lender.

It suits anyone shopping for a new car who wants to see what dealers will offer without visiting a string of forecourts, and anyone who wants to sell a car without haggling over a part exchange. Electric cars are a big focus at the moment because of the Government's EV Grant.

What's worth a look

Here are five popular EVs with Carwow's current cash prices, plus its free car-selling service.

The Renault 5 E-Tech starts at £21,051 cash on Carwow, against an RRP range of £22,995 to £31,095. Carwow says buyers save an average of £3,946 off RRP, and the model has EV Grant options. The Kia EV3 starts at £29,300 cash, with an average saving of £3,541. The Skoda Elroq starts at £29,807, with an average saving of £4,212.

The BMW iX1 shows the biggest average saving of these five, at £7,139 off RRP, with cash prices from £28,029 against an RRP of £37,065 and up. The Volvo EX30 starts at £31,060, with an average saving of £2,000. Each model page also shows monthly prices and used examples, so you can compare buying new, used or on finance.

If you've got a car to sell first, Carwow's Sell my car service is free. You enter your registration for a valuation, upload photos, agree a reserve price, and Carwow puts your car in front of more than 6,000 dealers in an online auction. Payment is same-day, and collection is free.

Current offers

  • Up to £3,750 off EVs with the Government EV Grant. Carwow says the "up to" figure reflects the top 10% of savings on new EV configurations over the previous 30 days. Savings vary by location, retailer, model and version.
  • Where the EV Grant applies, it's included in the savings shown and taken off at the point of sale. Cash prices shown exclude the grant.
  • Carwow also has dedicated pages for 0% finance deals and no-deposit deals.

How to save more

  • Look for the EV Grant tag. Not every EV qualifies. On Carwow's homepage, the Renault 5, Kia EV3, Skoda Elroq and BMW iX1 show EV Grant options, while the Volvo EX30 doesn't.
  • Sell before you buy. Carwow says sellers get an average of £1,000 more than a part exchange, so it's worth getting a valuation before you accept a dealer's trade-in offer.
  • Compare cash, finance and lease. The same model can work out very differently on monthly payments, so check all three on the model page.
