db Hotels + Resorts is run by Malta's Debono family and has two large all-inclusive resorts, both rated four-star superior. If you want a sunny family holiday or a winter break with everything paid up front, Malta works well from the UK: English is widely spoken, flights are short, and the euro prices are easy to budget for.

db Seabank Resort + Spa sits at the foot of Mellieħa Bay, Malta's largest sandy beach, about 35 minutes' drive from the airport. It's the family choice, with more than 536 rooms, five pools, seven themed restaurants and children's activities through the day. db San Antonio Hotel + Spa is in Qawra, overlooking St Paul's Bay, with over 500 Moorish-style rooms, four pools including an adults-only rooftop pool, and daily live entertainment. Prices are shown in euros.

What's worth a look

Here are six things to look at on the db website before you book.

The upgrade to consider is All-Inclusive Plus, for guests aged 12 and over. It adds international branded spirits, a private Plus Lounge for breakfast, snacks and drinks, late check-out until 2pm when available, and 20% off signature treatments at Pearl Spas. It costs €24.50 per person a night, or €22 if you add it when you book, and teenagers aged 12 to 16 pay €15. It must cover your whole stay, with minimum stays of 5 nights in summer and 4 in winter.

You don't need to stay to visit, either. Both hotels serve an All-Inclusive Sunday Lunch at €39.50, with half price for children aged 6 to 11, free-flowing house drinks and three hours' free parking.

• Book on the db website rather than a travel site, because that's the only way to get the db Direct package of 10% off, free transfers, a free child place and half-price car hire.
• Add All-Inclusive Plus at the time of booking to pay €22 a night rather than €24.50.
• Download the Guest Mobile App before you arrive for check-in, requests and restaurant bookings.
